Two routes into every NSU clinical course

NSU's nursing handbook sets out both. With an identified preceptor and site, you tell your clinical coordinator two semesters before the course begins, and the coordinator confirms the preceptor meets NSU's requirements and the site offers the right clinical experience. Without one, the coordinator places you within a 150-mile radius of your residential ZIP code, and that placement stands once it is made.

Most working nurses choose the first route: a preceptor in their own part of Florida, in the setting they picked, on days that fit their shifts. That is the route we build for you. It works both ways. NSU's handbook asks APRN students who have an identified preceptor and site to tell the clinical coordinator two semesters before each clinical course; students who name no one are placed by the coordinator within 150 miles of their residential ZIP code. How early should I start?

Two semesters before your first clinical course, which is earlier than most students expect. On NSU's flex plans the first clinical course comes later, so the notice date moves with it. The full-time and flex plans page shows the arithmetic for each track.
